BF® Petfood, of which BIOFOOD® is a part, is the first pet food company in the BeNeLux to offer natural and organic pet food for dogs and cats with recyclable packaging.

At the start of the Frisian family business BIOFOOD Diervoeding BV On September 27, 1989, then-director Wiebe Bijlsma opted for natural ingredients based on "respect for animals, people, and the environment."

This was a foresighted move. More and more people with dogs and/or cats are choosing natural and organic products from BF® Petfood, driven by growing animal and environmental awareness and a strong price-quality ratio.

History

It all started with founder Wiebe Bijlsma. In 1989, he witnessed firsthand how countless pets continued to struggle with itching, dull coats, and intestinal problems due to conventional commercial food. His conclusion was clear: things could and should change. He developed food as nature intended: high-quality meat from the same food chain as for humans, fresh herbs, natural vitamins and minerals, and natural preservatives like vitamin E and rosemary extract. No artificial colors, fragrances, or flavors, no chemical preservatives. Simply honest, pure, and incredibly delicious. Organic products were subsequently added to the range.

Fixed value

That small family business has since grown into a beloved name throughout the Netherlands and beyond. Thousands of pet owners have seen their pets visibly improve: more energy, a shiny coat, less itching, better stools, and above all, a very happy dog ​​or cat. As a family business, we're proud to be the market leader in the Netherlands with our famous sheep fat bonbons, and we were also the first to introduce rawhide chews to the Netherlands.

In addition to organic kibble dog food, we also offer organic wet food for dogs and cats under our BIOFOOD brand name, which even the most fussy eaters love.

Assortment and development

In addition to complete nutrition, our pet food range has been significantly expanded to include natural snacks, supplements, tablets, fats, and care products. Everything is made with the same love, the same strict quality control, and the same Dutch top quality. Our organic line carries the Skal quality mark. All our products carry the GREEN guarantee label, guaranteeing a natural, safe, and healthy end product, free of chemical additives, so you can always be sure you're giving the very best.

The sustainable, "no-waste" packaging we use is made of recyclable mono-material. This makes us the first pet food company in the Netherlands and the Benelux region to offer natural and organic pet food with recyclable packaging.
